APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS
( • I H A V E S E E N R A I N B E F O R E • )Ashlee made her way back into the school from going for a quick coffee break, needing to take some time away from her essay before her brain exploded. Normally essays and such weren't too big of a problem for her, neither was editing other people's papers. However, her publishing teacher asked if she wouldn't mind helping her edit papers from another class since Ashlee often helped out anyway. Of course the senior didn't mind, in fact she was actually looking forward to it because she enjoyed reading other people's work. Now, only a quarter of the way through the pile of papers she was working on, Ashlee understood why the publishing professor had asked her to do this particular pile of papers. They sucked. "And these people call themselves English majors, she grumbled, entering the library again.
It was a weekend and the last place any normal person wanted to be was the library, and if Ashlee were to be completely honest with herself it was the last place that she wanted to be too. The alternative, however, was her dorm room and lately something about her roommate had begun to annoy her. Ashlee wasn't really an easy person to annoy so the fact that every time her brown eyes settled on the other woman and she felt a stab of annoyance...well that just meant that the woman was obviously doing something wrong. She sat down at the table she had previously occupied with a heavy sigh and set her coffee down, taking a second to straighten the stack of papers in front of her and setting her purse down on the floor.
The blue bag was partly open and her eyes settled on a candy cane and she smiled, reaching down and pulling it out pulling off the wrapper, sticking it in her mouth. Ashlee leaned back and picked up the red pen that she had been using, swirling the candy cane between her teeth while she went through what was probably going to be yet another horrible paper. The marking began almost right away and she could feel her inner Grammar Nazi emerging from her personality once again. Something was causing her to be in a horrible mood and she didn't know why, though part of her wondered if it was because she hadn't been out in almost a month.
Ashlee wasn't really a party girl, hell she'd only had alcohol once in her life, but going out with her friends was fun no matter what they were doing. The library was completely empty when she had arrived, at least she thought it had been, and she didn't realize that someone else had decided to make an appearance.
